BioI've spent most of my professional career extracting information from large collections of data using various databases (SAS, Access, Claritas, FileMaker) and presenting it in the form of tables, graphics, and maps. I took an early retirement in 1998.
My hobbies include folk music (I sing, and play hammered dulcimer, concertina, hurdy gurdy, jaw harp, and didgeridoo), textile crafts (sewing - particularly for Civil War reeanctments, quilting and crochet), and various critters. I've also done gardening, woodworking, stained glass, and computer-generated embroidery, and am hoping in 2009 to do some card (or tablet) weaving and machine knitting.
I've registered at two local colleges for spring of 2009, intending to upgrade some of my professional skills in geographic information systems and statistics (SAS).
